白洲次郎・正子夫妻の旧居、町田市指定史跡「旧白洲邸 武相荘」。都下屈指の観光地として賑わう同所”初”のプロモーションムーヴィーが完成。インバウンドにも配慮した仕上がりになっています。
旧白洲邸武相荘を運営する株式会社こうげいは同所の魅力をインバウンドにも訴求すべく、プロモーションムーヴィーを制作しました。

昭和17年（1942年）、白洲夫妻は東京都町田市能ケ谷（当時 東京府南多摩郡鶴川村）に移住。次郎は英国、正子は米国と、海外留学経験のある夫妻は多摩エリアの典型的な養蚕農家家屋を和と洋が混在する空間にカスタマイズ。「武相荘」という名称は武蔵国（むさしのくに）と相模国（さがみのくに）の境目にあること、また次郎自身の人付き合いの悪さ＝ブアイソウとをかけたことに由来します。白洲夫妻の幅広い幅広い人脈は人々をひきつけ、ここは皇族、政府要人、作家や編集者などが様々なジャンルの人々が集うサロンとなっていました。
現在、夫妻が生活していた母屋はミュージアムとして一般に開放中です。衣料や書簡、骨董の器等、夫妻の愛用品が展示され、今も二人の息吹を感じることが出来ます。また隣接する庭園は正子により育まれた日本古来種の草木が四季折々に表情を変え、訪れる人々を魅了しています。
この度公開されたプロモーション映像には白洲夫妻の未公開映像や写真を軸に編み上げられています。白洲夫妻の娘婿で同所の館長をつとめる牧山圭男（まきやまよしお）氏は「白洲の足跡を慕い、開館から今日までに100万人近くものの方々にいらしていただきました。これからもイベントをはじめ様々な発信をしてまいります。国内はもちろん、海外の方にも武相荘にいらしていただきたいですね」と語っています。
また映像を彩る音楽は欧米各国で高い人気を誇り、武相荘でのライヴ経験のある野崎良太（Jazztronik）が担当。野崎氏は「武相荘にはこれまで何度か訪れていますが、そのたびに”東京に、これほどまでに日本の美しさと静けさを感じられる場所があるのか”と感嘆させられます。今回、そんな武相荘のイメージムービーに音楽を提供させていただくという光栄な機会をいただきました。自分自身の体験を重ねながら、この場所が持つ静けさや、時の流れを感じさせる雰囲気を音に込めました。映像とともに、その空気感を感じていただけたら嬉しいです」とコメントを寄せています。
映像は東京を代表するFM局、J-WAVEのコーディネーションにより海老原由佳がナレーションを担当。白洲夫妻の経歴やライフスタイルをわかりやすく説明しています。

The first official promotional video of the former Shirasu residence “Buaiso” has been released!
The former residence of Jiro and Masako Shirasu, “Buaiso” is designated as a historic site by Machida City. The first promotional video for one of the most popular tourist spots in the Tokyo metropolitan area has been completed. It has been created with consideration for inbound tourists.
Kougei Co., Ltd, the operating company of Buaiso, created a promotional video to appeal to inbound tourists and showcase the charms of the site.
The Former Shirasu residence ”Buaiso” official promotional movie
In 1942, the Shirasu couple moved to Nogaya, Machida City, Tokyo (Former Tsurukawa Village, Minamitama County, Tokyo Prefecture). Both having the experience of studying abroad, Jiro in England and Masako in the U.S., they customized a typical silkworm farming house in the Tama area into a space that blends Japanese and Western styles and named it “Buaiso.” The name “Buaiso” is a play on words, combining its location with the term for “unsociable,” describing Jiro. Members of the imperial family, government officials, writers, editors, and people from various other fields gathered, and it functioned as a salon.
Currently, the main house where the couple lived is open to the public as a museum. Their favorite items, such as clothing, letters, and antique utensils, are on display, and you can still feel their presence there. The adjacent garden, cultivated by Masako, features traditional Japanese plants that change with the seasons, enchanting visitors throughout the year.
The promotional video is compiled mainly from previously unreleased footage and photos of the Shirasu couple. Their son-in-law, who serves as the director of the museum, says, “Since its opening, nearly 1 million people have visited the museum to admire their legacy. We will continue to hold events and share various information. We hope that people from both home and abroad will visit Buaiso.”
The music accompanying the video is composed by Ryota Nozaki (Jazztonrik), who boasts tremendous popularity in Europe and the United States, who has performed live at Buaiso. He says, “I have visited Buaiso several times, and each time I am amazed that there is a place in Tokyo where one can feel the beauty and tranquility of Japan to such an extent. I am honored to have this opportunity to provide music for the promotional video for Buaiso. Based on my own experiences, I incorporated the tranquility and atmosphere of this place, where you can feel the passage of time, into the music. I hope you will be able to feel that mood when watching the video.”
Coordinated by J-WAVE, one of Tokyo’s leading FM radio stations, Yuka Ebihara narrates the video, providing easy-to-understand explanation of the Shirasu couple’s career and lifestyle.
