そんなSTEM体験の場を提供するのが「Girls Meet STEM」です。公益財団法人山田進太郎D&I財団（以下、当財団）は2024年の開始から1年で、全国の112社・32大学・8高専が参画する全国的な取り組みへと拡大してきました。
次のステージは「世界」です。
当財団は、国際教育カンファレンス「SXSW EDU 2026（サウスバイサウスウエスト・イーディーユー）」において、Girls Meet STEMを、日本発の社会課題解決モデルとして紹介するために、SXSW EDU 2026の「PanelPicker（パネルピッカー）」制度を通じて登壇にエントリーし、国際舞台での発信に挑戦します。
SXSW EDUは、2026年3月に米国テキサス州で開催される、教育・社会変革・テクノロジー分野の世界的カンファレンスで、プログラム登壇者は、SXSW側の審査とともに、一般投票の仕組み「PanelPicker」によっても選考される仕組みとなっています。この投票は、世界中の誰でもオンラインで1票を投じることができ、選考において全体の30%を占める重要な評価要素です。
Girls Meet STEMの取り組みと、そこから得られた成果を世界に届けたい。

Girls Meet STEMは、まだ将来の進路を決めていない中高生女子に、企業や大学の現場でSTEM領域に触れる機会を届けるプラットフォームです。2024年に16社・24大学で開始し、わずか1年で112社・32大学・8高専へと拡大。行政・大学・企業の連携を活用し、スタートアップの発想で全国に広がる仕組みを構築しました。本パネルでは、こうしたスケーリング戦略や現場から得た知見を、教育・非営利・テクノロジー分野で活躍する登壇者とともに議論します。

We’re Taking Girls Meet STEM to SXSW EDU 2026 – Your Vote Can Make It Happen!
The Yamada Shintaro D&I Foundation is stepping up to the global stage by submitting a session proposal for SXSW EDU 2026, a leading international conference on education, social change, and technology, held in Austin, Texas, from March 9–12, 2026.
Our mission is to showcase Girls Meet STEM, a transformative initiative empowering middle and high school girls to engage with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) through real-world experiences. We need your vote to bring this solution to the world and inspire change for girls in STEM everywhere.

How to Address Social Issues Like a Startup: Girls in STEM
◾️Our Purpose
STEM feels distant for many girls, but Girls Meet STEM makes it real and accessible. By connecting middle and high school girls with hands-on experiences at companies and universities, we help them discover their potential and broaden their future paths. In just one year since its launch in 2024, Girls Meet STEM has grown from 16 companies and 24 universities to a nationwide network of 112 companies, 32 universities, and 8 technical colleges.
Our next step is to take this model global. At SXSW EDU 2026, we aim to share Girls Meet STEM as a scalable solution to address social challenges. Through the PanelPicker system, we’re challenging ourselves to present this initiative on an international stage, and your vote is critical to making that happen.

Girls Meet STEM is a platform that brings STEM to life for middle and high school girls exploring their future paths. Through guided company and university tours, girls experience STEM in action, sparking curiosity and ambition. Launched in 2024 with 16 companies and 24 universities, it expanded in just one year to 112 companies, 32 universities, and 8 technical colleges. By leveraging partnerships across government, academia, and industry, we’ve built a scalable model driven by startup-inspired thinking. In this panel, we’ll share our scaling strategies and insights with leaders from education, nonprofit, and tech sectors.

D&I（ダイバーシティ＆インクルージョン）の推進を通じて、誰もが能力を発揮できる社会を目指し、2021年7月にメルカリCEO山田進太郎によって設立された公益財団法人です。 特にSTEM（理系）のジェンダーギャップに注目し、中高生女子のSTEM分野への進学やキャリア選択を支援する奨学助成金事業を展開しています。2024年より「Girls Meet STEM」事業を開始し、企業ツアーや大学でのキャンパス・研究室ツアーを通じて、STEM領域で活躍するロールモデルとの交流機会を提供しています。プログラムは通年で開催され、対面およびオンライン形式で参加可能です。
